Daycare FAQ's

  • 1.  Vaccination Records

Upload your proof of vaccination from your veterinarian showing your pup's vaccine expiration dates for Bordetella, Distemper, and Rabies. Your veterinarian may also send us these records directly, if that is preferred. Intact pups between 4 and 6 months are candidates for evaluation.

    2.  Fecal Float Test

Upload your pup's negative test results from a fecal float test done within the last 90 days. A fecal float test is a test done at the vet to check for intestinal parasites and other transmissible contaminants. Results are typically returned 24-72 hours after the sample is dropped off at the vet. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this requirement.

    3. First Day Evaluation.

An evaluation day is a daycare visit where your pup is slowly introduced to our pack—both care providers and our current daycare dogs. Evaluations help us to ensure your dog and our pack have a good time and stay safe while having fun! Each evaluation is done individually and is scheduled for a specific drop-off time, though pick-up time is flexible. Evaluations are a minimum of four hours in length, but your pup is welcome to stay longer if they are doing well! Upon completion of an evaluation, your pup will be eligible to book any boarding and daycare visits you may desire.

  • At drop-off, a senior member of staff will meet you and your pup and talk briefly about the evaluation visit. They will then take your pup back into an empty play floor to start their day. Your pup will begin with slow, hand-picked introductions by a trained staff member. They will select playmates based on your pup’s temperament and comfort level, pacing the introductions to suit your dog’s personal needs. Once your pup has been introduced to the pack, they will be welcomed into the main pack space where they can play or snuggle to their heart’s content!

After greetings and playtime, staff will take your pup into our boarding space for a short break/naptime. If you have brought a lunch or snack for your dog, we will offer it at this time. Staff will offer a break in a crate (enclosed on all sides) as well as a kennel space (open on top) to see where they most comfortably take their naps. This information will be used when your pup boards with us to ensure they are as cozy as possible while you are away. For break time, all crates and kennels have a bed or blankets and water bowls. Please let us know if your pup cannot have bedding materials.

Once your pup’s nap has ended, we will reintroduce them to the rest of the pack to finish their day with more playtime! When you arrive to pick-up your pup, a supervisor will discuss how the evaluation went, who your pup played with, and any struggles or highlights they may have had.

  • It depends on your pup! Does your pup like to herd jolly balls? Play fetch? Snuggle with humans? Pop bubbles? Sunbathe? Wrestle with their canine friends? All of the above and more is offered with our daycare service, at no additional charge.

If your pup is staying all day, feel free to bring them a meal or snack! We are able to offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals. While we do have dry kibble and canned food onsite, we recommend bringing your pup’s usual food to prevent tummy upset. Breakfast is given at 8:00 AM, lunch at 12:00 PM, and dinner at 4:00 PM. Any dog eating a meal at daycare will be given a 1-2 hour naptime (dependent on breed, age, and size) to prevent bloat and allow your pup time to process their meal. We do not charge for meal service unless we are providing the kibble or canned food.

  • You are welcome to bring food for your pup to eat while they are in daycare.  While most dogs are old enough that they do not eat lunch while they are with us, many younger dogs will still have 3 meals a day and can definitely be served lunch while they are here! We are also happy to feed your dog breakfast or dinner if they would typically eat during their time with us!

  • We are open for drop off as early as 6:30am Monday-Friday and 8m on Saturday and Sunday.

Pick up is before 7pm 7 days a week.

  • While we cannot currently accommodate dogs who are dog aggressive, we highly recommend reaching out to us for more information and training resources. Some pups may seem like poor candidates for social daycare and still be highly successful in our pack with the right care protocol! For more information, please send us an email at contact@boneyardseattle.com with any questions you might have.

  • Dogs are required to be at least 4 months old and have the full complement of vaccinations prior to joining our pack.

  • Our day starts early, with potty time, play, and snuggles before breakfast at 8:00 AM. After a fun-filled morning, pups have a break and lunchtime at 12:00 PM. Dinner is served at 4:00 PM, followed by more playtime until 6:00 PM. Bedtime is at 7:00 PM, or later, for extra snuggles!

  • Daycare and boarding often provides dogs with more physical exercise and mental stimulation than they are used to. Our pack does a lot in a day, including wrestling their doggie pals, playing chase with human and dog friends, sniffing around, meeting new pups, playing with bubbles, and more. For this reason, we make sure all boarding dogs get several chances throughout the day to rest and decompress away from the play group.

  • While we do offer cage-free boarding, your dog will still be required to pass a crate or kennel test for meals and for breaks as needed.  We also reserve the right to kennel your dog if they are disruptive to the cage-free pack

Whatever keeps your pup happy! We recommend bringing their usual food, medications/supplements, treats, and chews, a toy or two, and something that smells like home such as a blanket, t-shirt, or towels. We do keep plenty of beds and blankets onsite and make sure each boarding pup is comfortable in their personal space. If your dog cannot have bedding, let our staff know so we can give them a comfortable, dog-proof bed instead.

We do ask that you leave your bowls at home and let us know if your dog needs a specific bowl type, such as a slow feeder, no spill, or scatter feeding; we’re happy to accommodate feeding protocol requests and don’t want to accidentally mix your bowls up with ours! For health and safety purposes, please let us know if any portion of your dog’s food is raw or requires refrigeration.

We pride ourselves on our dedication to the dogs!  If your pup is low energy or shy or just needs a break, we will give them space away from the high energy pack.  If they need staff snuggles--we are there for them!

For dogs who prefer to snuggle with our staff overnight, they will sleep in our upstairs lounge after a final potty break. We have two rooms available in the event that some guests need a little more space to get the rest they need.  We do reserve the right to kennel a dog that is disruptive to the cage-free pack (this would primarily be a dog that cannot "settle" enough to let the other dogs get the rest they need).

While we do have motion-enabled security cameras throughout the building for safety, we do not have the ability to allow our customers to view this live feed. We are happy to send you photos and clips of your pup upon request while they are boarding with us. The BoneYard app allows you to receive and send messages directly to our team!

We do not offer tours of the boarding space for the comfort of our daycare and boarding pups that occupy the area throughout the day, but we are able to send a virtual tour of the boarding area upon request. Our daycare's indoor park and outdoor patio are available for off-leash play and tours on the weekends from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM, stop by and have a drink from our Howlin' Bistro while you explore with your pup!
